Have you been thinking about counseling for awhile? It's not uncommon for people to consider getting help for weeks and sometimes months before they make the first call. Nervousness and some embarrassment are natural feelings people sometimes have when they seek help. But remember, counseling is just people talking to each other.
My goal is to help you to feel comfortable. I strive to create a caring, non-judgmental atmosphere where people can develop the insights and skills they need to grow. My approach to counseling is down to earth and practical. I use a solution-focused, cognitive-behavioral approach that builds on the strengths already present in my clients.
So take a look around, get to know me, then give me a call to set up an appointment at my conveniently located, professional office in Fairport, NY. I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have when you call.
I have been in professional practice since 1985 and began my own practice in 1994. Over the years I have worked mostly with adults and adolescents. In addition to private practice I've worked in outpatient mental health, day treatment, chemical dependency treatment, schools, and employee assistance programs. I also taught social work at the college level for several years and provide supervision to other professionals.
Born and raised in the Rochester, NY area I attended McQuaid Jesuit High School and then St. John Fisher College for my undergraduate studies. I earned my Masters degree in Social Work from Syracuse University in 1985, and am a New York State Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I have practiced in the Fairport, NY area for the past 20 years.
My training has been in cognitive-behavioral and marriage and family therapy, but I consider my greatest training to be my marriage of 32+ years and having three thriving children. For recreation I am an amateur photographer, enjoy playing the guitar and piano, golfing, and skiing.
